I woke up Monday morning at 10:00 am, read the news headline 'Disney
to acquire the Marvel Comics franchise for $4 billion', and
immediately got an idea for a song. By 3:30 pm, the song was written. I
called Tom Smith, and with his
assistance I got a rough demo recorded by 6:30 pm to present to the
powers that be at FuMP. On Tuesday, they approved, and via the
graciousness of Devo Spice, Rob Balder, Possible Oscar, and Steve
Goodie, room was made for me to post the song on September 4th.
Wednesday night I went to Carrie Dahlby's apartment and
recorded her vocals. Thursday morning Chris
Mezzolesta of Power Salad mixed and mastered
the song. Which brings us to Friday, when the new song "Marvel Poppins", which is a parody
of a song whose title is one word with 14 syllables, was posted at the Funny Music Project website for
free download. I went from song idea to finished posted track in 4
days. I believe that's a record for me. I hope it goes viral. I also
hope some kind of fan video manifests for this. If I wasn't so busy
moving, I'd make one myself. Anyway, please tell your comic book loving friends to check out
"Marvel Poppins", and I'll see
you all again in 7 1/2 weeks.
Copy the code below and paste it on your web site, blog, or anywhere you can input HTML to share this song.

That's totally awesome! I agree, you should totally do Thing A Week - you could do it just based on the stuff you observe about random idiots while doing caricatures, and it would be hilarious.

Luke always been a huge fan of your heard this song last night and after the first verse I was too busy crying to catch the rest. After listening today I must say youve done it again. Great job and congrats on how fast it got out

This may rival Pr-pr-pr-procreate for the best thing ever to be put out on the Fump. Timely, funny, and quality. I can't help getting the idea of "Hulk Tales... whoohoo..." out of my mind!

Truly inspired! The "switch to DC" and the Goofy holler at the end are the best!

The "Gorsh, it's clobberin' time! A-huh-hyuck!" line is the funniest thing I've heard all week, very awesome, guys.

Nice job getting a song out in record time. You know this means it's time for Luke Ski's Thing a Week, right?

My faves: Stitch/Wolverine and Goofy/Thing... holy crap that was greatness! It was like a little ball of magic... or a mini tridium-sun... of fanboy/girl bliss!

See, if the Grammy awards were done right you'd win for this song.
