Jam On It by Newcleus is a classic old school rap jam. It was written at a time when it was not unusual for songs to run six or seven minutes. This one clocks in at just over eight minutes and contains 112 lines of lyrics, not including the spoken bits. It was a favorite of mine when I was a kid and I've always wanted to do a parody of it, but nothing seemed to fit. Then along came Wikipedia and my discovery of a Sudden Death page on there. It's short and tame, but I thought it would be fun to imagine what it could be. The music was done by Thom Uliasz. The lyrics were written by Tom Rockwell with contributions by Rob Balder for his parts. The wiki trolls are played by The Great Luke Ski and Shoebox of Worm Quartet who each wrote many of the parts that they say. There's also a quick appearance by Carrie Dahlby.

This is an excellent song.

Wow. Just wow. That's a piece of work. The sad thing is if I shared that with my friends they'd just stare at me like I had three heads.

Another excellent song. I hope one day a song that features all of the core members comes up.
devospice - Aug 31, 2007
We keep talking about doing a group song, sort of like a FuMP theme song. It'll probably happen sooner or later.
shoebox - Aug 31, 2007
Loonie - Luke's on the left, I'm on the right. :) -=ShoEboX=-
DJ Particle - Aug 31, 2007
Love it! If you hadn't done this, I would have (ever since the GDD, I've been nursing a Newcleus Wiki parody as well), but you did it tons better than I would have :) Bravo!

Very hilarious, Devo! This is so true and have had some bad experiance with the site's insult of intelligence; from incorrect voice-over information to deletated sections of people that auditioned from American Idol (from Rejects to Top 40/44). Again, I did have this experiance many times.
DJ Particle - Aug 31, 2007
and btw, Spice.... I'm the one who put you up on Wikipedia ;)
critter42 - Aug 31, 2007
OK, that was extreme brilliance. I'm having Pickles listen to this before I go to work... Hawesome! (awesome is not good enough for this, this deserves that extra H)
Derwood Bowen - Aug 31, 2007
Yeah yeah, hilarious and all, but you weren't the first to get a Wikipedia song on the FuMP! :p
Dalkinis - Aug 31, 2007
Sweet!

OMG...
I never thought the day would come when we'd have a Newcleus parody! This is one of my fave all time old school songs!!!
This is just GREAT, Devo, GREAT! Rob Balder's finest moment as well! There are too many gems to list in this one... "neither Devo nor a Spice"? I shoulda known.
So hilarious, I've gotta listen so many more times. Comedy gold.

davidtanny - Sep 18, 2007
Is it possible to offer a radio edit version of some of your songs so that radio stations are more likely to use your songs? It's a bit of work to put in the bleeps to censor out the words that cannot be used on the radio. Thank you.
devospice - Sep 19, 2007
We're working on it.
Magekind - Jan 26, 2008
They frickin', got Worm Quartet mostly right. I think yours got cut back to a stub. Heh.

It would've been nice to more easily distinguish Luke SKi and Shoebox, but still great.
