Ever since the great Luke Ski posted his song Bacon I've been trying to come up with a parody for it. I finally came up with this idea not long before MarsCon, so I decided to perform the song during the Dementia Smackdown.
Luke, who was running the Dementia Smackdown, kept asking me what I was doing. He even offered to keep my performance secret from the other performers if I wanted him to. Of course I needed to keep it secret from him so I had to be extra sneaky. This is the full studio recording of the song.
Oh yeah, this song isn't on it, but did I mention that I have a new album out?

Oh yeah, this song isn't on it, but did I mention that I have a new album out? ...And the Luke Ski parody is now complete, for the description by Devo contains a 'Luke Ski moment'. This song really brightened a very stressful day for me at MarsCon. I'm so happy and honored that you recorded it for the FuMP!

Now THIS
IS
BRILLIANT!
How does Devo Spice cold school us? Let me count the ways!
I love this more than ALL Kevin Bacon movies put together. Yes, even Footloose.

Very, very nice. And we're happy to help with your Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon!

I notice Luke is conspicuously silent on this... Luke, use the farce, Luke. Seriously, great parody! Pity you didn't do this at I-Con!

Have I mentioned lately how awesome you are? Cause... yeah. Awesome!
DJ Particle - Apr 11, 2008
Ah....I couldn't get a good look at the "Unplugged" cover art. Still, ffirst appearance by a member of the group (regardless of visual media) in 10 years *heh*
devospice - Apr 11, 2008
Emi, it's the first cover with a photo of one of us since 1995's Brain Dead. A Decade Of Decay (1996) had an illustration of me as a skeleton. Unplugged (1998) had an illustration of me in a hospital bed.

I don't usually care much for parodies of songs that are already funny, but this one is absolutely brilliant. Well done, Spice!

I just noticed something....isn't "Fatal Error" the first album art to feature at least one member of Sudden Death on the cover since 1996 ("A Decade of Decay")?
Spaff.com - Apr 11, 2008
It's officially Meta Week on the FuMP. Luke Ski does the Four Postmen. Eric Coleman does Sudden Death. Sudden Death does Luke Ski. Now we gotta get the Four Postmen to do Eric Coleman.
Great stuff, Devo. Can you hook me up with Kyra Sedgwick?
djseamus - Apr 11, 2008
Well thanks to the Fump, I fear I shall never look at a slice of bacon the same way again.....this is why I stick to sausage. Whoa, did I just say that out loud?
MarlinsGirl - Apr 11, 2008
Awesome song, Devo Spice.
Hurricane - Apr 11, 2008
Heh, never has Kevin Bacon felt so loved then right now :P Well done Devospice and crew, oh and yes- you have mentioned your new album and yes- I have been spinning my copy of it on my radio show, with some happy feedback I might add :)

"wild things' get "footloose" on the dance floor with the "hollow man"! Everything Kevin Bacon rocks.
djseamus - Apr 12, 2008
The final "BAAAAACCCCOONNN" exclamation makes this for me...and I don't know which bacon song I like better now....Blast you Lukeski and Devo for being so good at what you do!
dino-mike - Apr 12, 2008
Hahaha!!! This one is great!!! Footloose baby!!!
DJ Particle - Apr 12, 2008
Actually, Devo Spice is closer to Kevin Bacon than he thought... Grant has worked with someone who worked directly with Kevin Bacon...and a LOT of artists can connect to Grant through Luke's cover of "Chainsaw Juggler" ;)
peterfump9 - Apr 12, 2008
ROTFLMAO! Brilliant!
samuel_whyte - Apr 14, 2008
funny! and a little creepy I have to say. :)
artpaul - Apr 27, 2008
Brilliant by like Bacon better than Kevin but got to admit I had to rehear this because when I heard it at Marscon it didn't sound like LukeSki's version. In listening to this I've thought maybe there is potential here. How about Beacon ? Or how about these ideas: Have a Jelly Roll Donut to Have A Peanut Butter Sandwich ? Or to Weird Al's song Eat It you could write one called: Wear It. Well anyways it was quite clever and I look forward to other brilliant Sudden Death songs in the future.

As soon as you mentioned you were going to FuMP this, I have been waiting for this to come out! In the words of "Big Rigs": YOU'RE WINNER!!! ;)
