A random chance reunion in a grocery store aisle led to the formation of Tinfoil Hat. Derrik DeCraene and Adam Baum had been in bands together in the late 90's/early 2000's before Adam effectively disappeared from the scene for well over a decade. The idea of starting a project came up and Derrik said he had been wanting to use the name Tinfoil Hat, but no musicians in the local circle were too jazzed about that. Adam said he had been working on some material that would be a perfect fit for that, ironically including a song titled Shiny Tinfoil Hat. While some of Tinfoil Hat's material is straight up just for laughs, much of it is biting sociopolitical satire taking on hot button issues from gun control to reproductive rights to climate change and more. If you dig past the jokes, there is often a dead serious message.
