Rob Balder Here They Come

Mission Control, Cape Kennedy, Apollo 13:
Ten, nine, eight, ignition sequence has started, six, five, four, three, two, one, zero, we have commit, and we have liftoff.

A thousand steely meters, measured stem to stern.
A crew of four aboard. Explore, report and learn.
A planet, sick with pain and root rot,
Shrinks to a blue dot.
Leaving the mess,
Leaving the nest,
Here they...

Yes, mankind heaved itself up, bar by bloody bar.
Now this clean machine will take them to a star.
But most of what it took to build her
Came from their killers,
Came from their wars,
Came from their core.
Here they come.

David Scott, from the Moon, Apollo 15:
I sort of realize there's a fundamental truth to our nature: Man MUST explore.

Oooh, I told you.
I told you this day would come.

We've seen a dozen like them crawl up from the clay,
And then destroy themselves. They always find a way.
And we've got too much work to miss them
In ten thousand systems
Here we design
Here we refine
But here they..

We hold the stuff of space and time at our command
They're only animals, they'll never understand
They'll find the net of quantum tunnels
And build a McDonald's.
Burgers and buns
At each shining sun.
Here they come.

1967 Colorforms Toy Commercial:
From the farthest reaches of the galaxy come, the Outer Space Men!
Colossus Rex, from the giant planet Jupiter!
Astro Nautilus, from beneath the seas of Neptune!
Alpha Seven, the man from Mars!
And their interplanetary companions.
Seven bendable, flexible figures from outer space,
Complete with their own fantastic super weapons
And detachable space helmets!
They're here now, at toy stores everywhere!
The Outer Space Men!

Oooh, I told you.
I told you this day would come.

There's no solution we could ever justify,
We know the answer like we know the end of pi.
And we see why
Peace solves all equations
Even invasions
Even the quark
Even the dark
Here they...

Tycoon, tyrant, diva, beggar, martyr, murderer, hero,
Loan shark, Wal Mart, Marco Polo, Mozart,
Archimedes, Auschwitz, Kingdom of the Mouse, it's
Too soon to say that they're a cancer.
They might be the answer.
Packing a gun,
Out of the slum,
Here they come.

Neil Armstrong, from the Moon, Apollo 11:
We came in peace, for all mankind.

Oooh, here they come.

Car hop waitresses, The Flintstones:
Here we come on the run
With a burger on a bun,
And a dab of coleslaw on the side!
Oh your taste we will tickle
With a cold dill pickle,
And all of our potatoes are french fried, fried, fried!
Our burgers can't be beat,
'Cause we grind our own meat...
