Holding Out For Hiro
featuring Carrie Dahlby
This parody of Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For A Hero" is about the popular NBC sci-fi show "Heroes", centering around the character Hiro Nakamura. This song was forged by the combined superhuman musical abilites of Carrie Dahlby on lead and background vocals, Jared Ringold of Possible Oscar on music, engineering and mixing, and ShoEboX of Worm Quartet on the Jim Steinman-y keyboards. My thanks and appreciation to them is so immense in size, it could cause an eclipse, just like the one seen in the opening credits of "Heroes". Everyone who comments to this song must end their comment by telling us what their super power is. My super power is my uncanny ability to subliminally suggest that people request for Dr. Demento play this song at http://www.clamhead.com/drd.php !

This song is now available on the following CDs:

"My thanks and appreciation to them is so immense in size, it could cause an eclipse, just like the one seen in the opening credits of 'Heroes'"... ...Or the one of Bonnie Tyler's heart. :) -=ShoEboX=-

Cool Parody, great music, Hero worship- is anything more needed? Oh, and my special power would be to stretch my arms so I can itch that one unreachable spot on my back :)

It's totally fanboy to say so, but I keep thinking you guys can't do any better and then I get blown away again. Nice one! My power's the ability to speak to cats. Too bad obedience isn't part of the package.

Win. Truly, win.

This gives me glee! When I think of my super power later I'll comment again so you can get double the comments.

I have not heard Luke's latest song yet, but since super heroes seem to be the topic du jour, I would want the power to instantly lower the price of all existing home recording equipment and musical instruments so I, myself, could make a song for the FUMP....that, and the magical ability to master any instrument I pick up. My thoughts on the song to follow.

I actually just finished watching the 1st season on Heroes last night! So I finally get one of your TV songs! Very good I dig it. My superpower is getting girls into bed the first day they meet me.

At the risk of sounding self-congratulatory, I say well done to all involved! My super power is the ability to make lines form behind me at restaurants and stores.

This is awesome! Great job all around. And my super power is to PREVENT lines from forming behind me at the supermarket. Seriously. Nobody gets in line behind me for some reason.

I adore this one, guys. My true superpower is probably not appropriate to mention on such a public forum. :P My secondary power would be to use my ferret minions to get this song played over and over again.

I have had to retire my super power as the effects from the first time I ever used it are still evident. BTW: Awesome song. Great work by all involved.

I love it, and I don't even watch "Heroes" (yeah, I know I should one of these days). And as for my super power, it's to be well and truly set. That's all. ;)

ANOTHER great Luke Ski song! I mean, it's a song by the great Luke Ski, right?
Kidding. This IS great, I agree with bruceski's comment up there about the consistancy of quality here! I'm personally toying with the OTHER Bonnie Tyler song that ShoEboX mentioned, so maybe we'll see ANOTHER B.T. song on the FuMP??
Props to Carrie, yo. Your growth is evident on the FuMP shawty. That's the going term, right?
Oh, and my super power is the ability to be extremely wordy in every comment or email that I write or every voicemail I leave... hell, in EVERYTHING I do! I just don't know when to shut up, so that's my super power, the power of wordy annoyance!! I'm sure I've banished evil from this comment page already cuz noone has the will to go on after my super-comment!
One last thing regarding the song though, in this case shouldn't they be speaking in "Bloken Engrish"? Just asking.

You are mistaken,Seamonkey. I have the will, and am mighty enough to post a reply after your powerfully verbose ramblings. I'm only a DJ, but sill, I am mighty. I told you guys I'd follow my dream super-power with my reation to Luke's and Carrie's (and PosCar's) song so here it is: I have never watched an episode of "Hero", but I do know about the Japanese guy. I have to say, Luke, this song is just as good as "MC Freberg". I knew almost nothing about Stan Freberg or rap music upon first listen of the track, but it's funny on it's own...."Holding Out for Hiro" seems to be just the same way to someone like me who knows very little about the new fall line-up on TV. But, I am curious, do you also write songs about normal, everyday life? Or are they just about sci-fi and tv shows? Keep it up! And Carrie, your voice is heavenly...absolutely superb! You're my heroine!

Finally, somebody covered Heroes with a demented song. One more down. Some 1,745 shows left to make a demented song about. Now, on to Grey's Anatomy (yeah, right).

Luke, your music always makes me want to watch whatever you're singing about just to get it. I think that means it's good. My super power is:

Great song. I love Heroes, and I'm glad Rifftrax got their commentary on the Dvd as a bonus feature. Umm... I have two superpowers. One is the ability to pick the winner of a reality show within the first episode. The other is the inability to lose a cakewalk. I can remember, thirteen years ago in the elementary school field day. I brought home four cakes that day. That, was when we knew.

Not familiar with the show, but it is a very catchy tune. Well done everyone. And my superpower is... um... well... er... uh... being... able... to... uh... use... groups of... 3 dots a lot, yeah, that's it, sure... um... I gotta... go... now...

ROTFLMAO! Oh god this one was right on the money! Great work Luke, Carrie and everyone else involved! And my super-power is the mutant ability to project a purple spot on the wall, thus driving all sexy female cath-themed heroines and villainesses into a frenzy trying to catch it and leave them so exhausted they'll want to.. cuddle, yeah, that's right, cuddle *innocent whistling...*

If I could pick a superpower, it would be to instantly absorb the fantastic musical abilities of anyone I came in contact with (not depriving them of theirs, just copying like a Xerox). Imagine being able to snarf up Joe Giacoio's guitar wizardry, ShoeBoX's mad keyboard skills, or Carrie's fabulous voice! (Or even all of them at once...) And I'd promise to use it only for good (or at least making tons of money and getting scads of requests on Demento) and not go around cutting their brains open like Sylar. Seriously, guys, terrific parody; I laughed my ass off...and now I need to find someone whose power can help me re-attach it. :-)

My super power is to make doors unlock with the power of my mind.

Oh, I am going to show my age with this, but I remember dancing to the original tune "We need a hero" when I was pg with my first kid. Now I am a MAJOR "Heroes" fan, and I have a super crush on Hiro (always had a thing for Asian guys, starting with Bruce Lee as "Kato" on "Green Hornet"). Amazing song, amazing show, amazing group! Thanks, and keep it up. I enjoy parodies, idolize Weird Al and will continue to watch "Heroes" as long as it's as great as this past season. BTW, have any of the people from "Heroes" heard this and commented? It would be great to know and hear what they have to say...

That was f'in cool.

lovin every minute of it!!

I havn't watched heroes. so I guess my super power is the ability to have not seen anything that people say is good

I feel cheated. I thought it was going to be a song about Hiro Protagonist in'Snowcrash' by Neal Stephenson. My secret power is to write parodies of parodies, as in "Squealing Like a Boggie": sample lyrics follow. Roll for sanity check: I'm not sorry Goddam I really meant to hurt you but you can kiss my cock ring 'cause you're bi I'm squealing like a boggie" ... the road goes even on and on and ... little people little people LITTLE PEOPLE! ... "Do you like what you doth see...?" Frito, do this and have me... I'm so sorry Gladwrapiel I never meant to hurt you and you can kiss my thing bye-bye tonight, I'm squealing like a boggie.

Absolutely great song. If only that flash movie had showed the Enterprise firing photon torpedoes, not phasers, it would've been perfect. Kids these days just don't know their Star Trek, what can I say. My superpower is to be incredibly pedantic and picky...but I didn't need it to notice that phaser/photon torpedo gaffe. Someone needs (pause) remedial Shatnerizing.

Loved the song GREAT JOB! my super power is to instantly get any item or person i touched by thinking about it or them.
