Flaming Lips
Took me a while to get around to posting about this, but here we go.
Last weekend, I went to a concert and saw these guys:

The Flaming Lips. Definitely one of the most awesome concerts I've ever been to. It was crazy. The singer (Wayne Coyne) is quite a showman, and he makes sure that his band's concerts are an amazing experience. The show always starts out with him coming out inside a giant bubble and walking on top of the audience. From there, you get a concert full of lights, psychedelic video backdrops, strobes, confetti, balloons and all sorts of crazy shit.
Getting in was an experience. I went with Kyle and Brendan, and I tried to buy the tickets in advance like, a month before this show. Now, the show took place on the Vanderbilt campus, and students of that school got in for $10. Our tickets would have been $55. Unfortunately I couldn't order them online cause they didn't ship to P.O. boxes. So on the night of the concert, we just went hoping we could buy tickets at the door. Lo and behond, they were sold out. Great, what are we gonna do now?
...It started raining and some people began to leave. As they walked out, we asked them for their wristbands and ticket stubs and just walked right in without paying a cent. For that reason, I feel like the concert was a dream. A concert that amazing should not have been free.
During the show, as it began to rain, Wayne said "fuck the rain!" and got the audience members to chant it. The band joined in. It was quite fun. Also, someone proposed to a teletubby.
Setlist: Race for the Prize Lightning Strikes the Postman (SO happy they did this... it's my favorite song by them, and it's quite rare to hear live) Borderline (Madonna cover... Wayne's vocals were pretty cringe worthy) Fight Test The Process Vein of Stars Mountain Side Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pompeii am Gotterdammerung (amazing live) The W.A.N.D. (after one of Wayne's 10 minute political soapbox speeches) She Don't Use Jelly Do You Realize
Great show. I need to see them again.
