Help our friends, Smashy Claw!

Our best friends in music, Smashy Claw have launched an IndieGoGo campaign in preparation for the release of not one, but TWO brand new albums. We were involved the production of one of these albums, helping with mixing and playing some instruments on it, and we can truly say these are some really creative and funny songs with a lot of personality, over many different genres. A labor of love, for sure. If you like us, you’ll like them. Donating is like basically pre-ordering these albums, so what are ya waiting for?

Rocketships, UFOs.

Last month, I was commissioned to create backing music to a toddler eccentrically singing songs he made up into a smartphone mic for 10 minutes. Carrie Dahlby’s kid, Alex Rasey, arrives with his debut record, “Rocketships UFOs.” I ended up going kinda crazy out-there with the instrumentation (making the cover art pretty appropriate), and it ended up being this fun little avant-garde project that I’m quite proud of. Definitely worth checking out, and it’s only $4! Digital or CD.

Steve’s Self-Indulgent Birthday Show

Nuclear Bubble Wrap’s own bassist, Stephen Smith, is getting older! So, he’s throwing himself a birthday show featuring several of the bands he’s in. Each band is covering a section of Pink Floyd’s The Wall, from beginning to end.  In addition to Nuclear Bubble Wrap, the show will feature the bands Trigger Digit, Regdar and the Fighters, In Mi Vida, Slurpasaur and Bear Vomit!

The show will be a Cafe Coco in Nashville on July 9th, starting at 8pm. This is a free and all ages show, so there’s no excuse for not being there.

Cafe Coco is located at 210 Louise Ave, Nashville 37203.

New Song: The Emperor’s New Groove

Here’s a new Nuclear Bubble Wrap song from the next album! It’s the sequel to “The Fault in Our Death Stars.” The Death Star becomes a giant disco party while The Emperor has a blast destroying the universe! Yeah, we made a disco song. Groovy.

Buy it on Bandcamp

Lyrics:

Well the Death Star’s a giant dance floor
So slap Jar Jar’s ass at the door
Now that the Jedi’s not our downfall
Get on the dark side of my disco ball

Evil will always prevail
And who doesn’t love evil females?
Dance with light sabers out in the dark
While I shake my ass for the patriarch

It’s my new groove, I’m the emperor
I’m evil as balls
Evil makes us true adventurers
Lap dance from Darth Maul

It’s my new groove, in the emperor’s Death Star
It’s my new groove, and it’s also a meth star
*sound of the emperor snorting crystal meth off jar jar binks’ ass*

Jar Jar gets me to go down
My vision’s turning brown, ooo
The galaxy’s melting down
A certain Lucas not a where to be found

Kyle Thorne: guitars, bass, keyboards, drum programming
Jace McLain: keyboards, backing vocals
