New Song: Paywutchyalike

Some time ago the great Luke Ski and I were on a Skype call with a few other people and while they were talking about money Luke said "paywutchyalike" in his best Humpty Hump impression and a parody idea was born.

Click here to listen to "Paywutchyalike."

This song also features cameo appearances by Insane Ian, Shoebox of Worm Quartet, Chris Mezzolesta of Power Salad, and Carrie Dahlby's son Alex. Bonecage did the initial music, then I flushed it out, and Shoebox chimed in with a piano bit that you won't hear in this version of the song.

Yes, there are two versions. Just like the original there is a radio edit that fades out after the 3 1/2 minute mark. The full 8 1/2 minute version of the song will be on my next album. If you don't want to wait that long you can hear it on Luke Ski's new album 4th Grade Talent Show.

Devo Spice Update - 8/15/2014: New Song Plus FuMPFest t-shirts!

Hey everyone,

--== NEW SONG ==--

I have a new song out on the FuMP today!  “Paywutchyalike” is a new parody of an old song (“Doowutchyalike” by Digital Underground) which features a Humpty Hump-ified Luke Ski, plus cameos by Insane Ian, Shoebox of Worm Quartet, Chris Mezzolesta of Power Salad, and Carrie Dahlbys son Alex.  Check out the song here:

This is the “Single Edit” of the song, meaning it fades out during the fade-out bit in the middle of the song.  There’s also an album version which is 8 ½ minutes long and will appear on my next album, whenever that happens.  If you don’t want to wait that long you can also hear it on Luke Ski’s new album 4th Grade Talent Show available in the FuMP Store here:

And speaking of the FuMP Store I just got my shipment of FuMPFest 2014 t-shirts in, so those of you who missed out on the first batch can now order your t-shirts!  Order soon because they will likely go quick and I’m not ordering another batch once these are gone.  You can order your shirt from here: http://thefump.com/store_release.php?id=128

I have them in sizes S - 3XL.

Devo Spice Update - 7/8/2014

Hey everyone,

I’m still recovering from FuMPFest but I have a couple timely things to share with you.

First, I have a new song out...sort of.  Marc Gunn approached me some time ago saying he had an idea for a parody of “Donald McGillavry” called “Doctor of Gallifrey” but hadn’t watched enough Doctor Who to feel comfortable writing the song.  So he asked if I would write it.  I said, sure!  I’m not doing anything!  Why not?!  The song is now live on The FuMP and you can download it for free here: http://thefump.com/fump.php?id=1810

Second, I’m doing a stand-up show tomorrow night in New York City.  I’ll be doing 5 minutes (no music, just stand-up comedy) at the Sidewalk Cafe (http://www.sidewalkny.com).  There’s a $5 cover and a 1 item minimum.  If anyone is coming please let me know.  I need someone to film my set for me.

Finally if you missed FuMPFest you can get a nice roundup of everything that went on by listening to episode 211 of The FuMPCast here (http://www.thefump.com/podcast.php) and episode 89 of The Insider here (http://www.devospice.com/insider.php).  Short version: it was epic!  And here’s a link to a BuzzFeed article about the event: http://www.buzzfeed.com/katienotopoulos/the-men-who-dare-to-be-demented

Holy Crappin\' FuMPFest!

I don't have anything to say about FuMPFest that hasn't already been said. It was an amazing weekend. Things went ridiculously smoothly, the handful of things that went wrong were things we could deal with, and it looks like we covered our costs for putting on the event.

When you surround yourself with awesome people awesome things happen. This was, in all seriousness, one of the best weekends of my life. And I was so afraid going into it that it was going to be one of the worst. And I owe it all to the volunteers, staff, performers, and attendees who all came together to make this an incredible weekend.

Dr. Demento said on his Facebook page that he hopes this becomes a regular event. I do, too. We're already planning 2015 and I'm hoping for many years to come after that.

Thank you, everyone, for an amazing weekend!
